Laodicea - The Lukewarm Church from Amazing Prophecies

Revelation 3:14-22

14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Laodicea is compromised of two words that mean "people" and "judgment." It was a place of commerce. The people were very rich and proud of it. They had a medical school which was famous for its warm mineral baths and its eye ointment. The merchants sold fine clothing made from soft, glossy, black wool.

Prophetically, this is the seventh and final period of church history and stretcheds from the mid 1800s, when the church began to lose its fervor, to the time of the Lord's return. This is the period we live in today.

Jesus wishes that the Laodiceans were either cold or hot instead of lukewarm. The cold people can be made to feel their need, the hot ones are on fire for the Lord, but the lukewarm ones congratulate themselves that they aren't cold and don't realize how far from hot they have become. They dont realize how truly destitute of spiritual riches they are; they are blind to their true spiritual condition and don't know that they are naked, devoid of Christ's robe of righteousness. This is the condition of God's church today. Jesus compares them to a revolting mouthful of lukewarm water. Something that you would spit out of your mouth. Fellow saints of god let us not get spit out by our Lord and Savior. I pray that we all become hot to be risen up by our Lord and Savior on that great day and I ask this in Jesus name. Amen.
